" At ACRP, we believe real change comes from the ground up, and know that a small-but-committed critical mass of activists can not only transform society, but change the world. That’s why we recruit and mobilize people to become powerful activists, providing the skills, campaigns, and resources to push for ambitious climate action and high-level policies that accelerate a just transition to clean energy, and a sustainable low-carbon and resilient future for all Africans. I am a passionate climate justice advocate and movement builder. My professional background is in Environmental Health Technology. While in college, I co-founded Environment Savers of Zambia, an environmental group aimed at promoting healthy living through a green and clean environment. We have recycled hundreds of tonnes of plastics and empowered communities to take the lead on climate issues through green jobs. Since becoming a trained Climate Reality Leader, I lead various climate-focused activities including tree planting, plastic clean-ups, community sensitization, youth engagement, climate justice protests and campaigns in various communities. I believe noticing a problem is an automatic call to take action to solve it.

Gerald Esemonu

My academic background is in education, business, and human resource with a Master’s of Science in Human Resource Management from Rivers State University in Nigeria. I began my career as a school teacher at Intellect Development Center in 2003, committing over 15 years in the classroom, and I’m now a certified and licensed professional teacher. I support climate and environment initiatives in Nigeria and the West African region. I am the co-founder of Environmental Friendly Initiative, a Nigerian-based NGO leading School Climate Clubs. I have had the privilege to serve the Global Shapers Community as Sub-Saharan African Regional Leader on Climate & Environment. Currently, I am the West African Regional Coordinator for the African Climate Reality Project. My passion and interest for climate education was sparked by both helping young people grow knowledge and seeing how ecological changes linked to climate change created conditions for impoverishment, violent extremism, and a humanitarian crisis. I am committed to seeking the best solution for environmental sustainability and growing ecological friendly people.
