Young Leaders Called to Take Bold Climate Action and join the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training in Cape Town

21 February 2025

Cape Town, South Africa – The African Climate Reality Project, in partnership with former US Vice President Al Gore, is thrilled to bring the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training to Cape Town on 29 March 2025. This one-day intensive training is part of the The REALITY® Tour; a year of training and campaigns building global demand for ambitious action to phase out fossil fuels and stop rising temperatures. South Africa faces mounting climate and socio-economic risks; from record-breaking heatwaves and devastating droughts to the continued fight for a just transition.

This training provides a platform for young leaders, activists, and professionals to take action, and shape the future of climate policy and advocacy in the country. As we commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the Paris Agreement, and enter the second half of the critical decade- the need to accelerate climate solutions has never been more critical. Participants will gain in-depth insights into key national climate priorities, including the implementation of South Africa’s Climate Change Act and the revision of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Expert-led skill building sessions will also focus on climate finance, adaptation, and storytelling as an advocacy tool.

By joining this training, attendees become part of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps—a global network of 3.5 million climate champions working to drive real change in their communities and beyond, and join a network of around 2000 African Climate Reality Leaders. This is an opportunity for young activists to become leaders in the fight for climate justice. South Africa and the world cannot afford to wait.

The time for bold, decisive action is now.
